So yesterday I went for my pre op all went well and I was happy with everything that was said until they told me the date of my operation!! (So a little background information, I have planed to go on holiday with my family the last week of this month and I have told everyone to do with my care that this was the case so there was no surprises, ) so they said your operation is on the 25 of this month and I just looked and said I can’t do that date as everyone knew that’s when my holiday was. So I was told that if I have the operation that day I should be out of hospital in a couple of days and then I could go on the holiday later in the week and that will be fine, or I could ring the hospital the next day (as my appointment was at 4:30) and see if I could change it so I rang today and asked if I had the opp could I still go away to be told no you couldn’t go so I just cancelled it and told them to send me another date. Now I’m sat here thinking have I done the right thing or am I just being selfish for wanting to have a holiday with my family before I start on this treatment that I know is going to be long and I’m going to feel pretty bad for a few weeks.
Hi Tia, Have you had all the ct/mei scans and initial staging out of interest? I was on holiday after my initial ultrasound and before the hysteroscopy, when they phoned to book the biopsy she said it was two days time, I was on a greek island! Initially she was really annoyed and said when on the pathway i should be available for 28 days, but when i said i was told to go and enjoy my hols she was nicer. The date was cancelled and rebooked for my return.
You have made your decision so go enjoy your holiday and don’t waste it worrying you did the wrong thing. Celebrate family and fun, cherish the time together to build emotional strength for whatever is coming x
PS: I am not medically trained of course and i don’t know if your condition needs super urgent treatment.
Hi no they have said that I don’t have to have anything else done before my hysterectomy so I haven’t had mris or cat scans the only thing I have had was the biopsy, the dr seems to think that all I will need is the hysterectomy and then it should be all sorted but I can’t see how they can say that without taking it out and doing a full biopsy on it. I will go and enjoy my holiday but I think I was just having a wobble and wondering if I had done the right thing x
Hi Tia. No I don't think you're selfish at all. You talked it through with them and made it clear you'd be taking a holiday on a specific date. You'll still have to have a CT scan and perhaps a MRI scan to complete the staging picture.
So go off and have a lovely holiday!, Hugs, Barb xx

Hi thank you, they have said they are not doing the scans as the dr I saw said they are not needed and all that I need is the hysterectomy, I’m so confused about it all and pretty much left to myself as the cancer nurse was good in the beginning but then said she isn’t going to ring until I’ve had the operation and then go from there.
Hi Tia. Your CNS is there when you need her, they don't check up on you (far too much to do I suspect). I thought that myself at first they'd check up on me on a weekly basis but then realised they were there when I needed them.
Hugs, Barb xx
