Got my Operation date!

Hi Jane66. I know a few ladies who said they'd be willing to take a cancellation but when they were offered one they panicked! I'd always think best to get it over and done with. This whole process is a waiting game and if anything can move things quicker, go for it, that's unless you haven't finished cleaning out your kitchen cupboards or got your bag packed. LOL!

I can see why it's a common occurrence! I had mentally put myself on hold for the 19th thinking its a while away yet then yes out of the blue it's next Friday panic stations,I agree it's best to get it done ASAP x

Hi Jane66 I can understand why you weren’t sure how you felt about it!
I’ve had to have several scans and tests and was told would be using another hospital as might need back up post op! That would be my 3rd hospital with no date in site. But yesterday got a letter confirming the original op at the 2nd hospital (all part of the Merseyside Cancer Network) for Monday 1st August! Thankfully the CNS rang and chatted through everything. Had my first lateral flow test which was negative, just need one on Monday to be negative too. Still a bit shell-shocked, but rather get it out of the way so I can concentrate on getting on with life. Like you, I had mentally put myself on hold! It’s going to be an eventful week for us both! x

Here's a story for you. My 2nd op, I had the PCR on the we'd and was having the pre op assessment on the Friday. Op had been moved forward to the following Tues. 

The registrar, he told me he was called Ben, phoned me on the Thurs night 8pm and said, seeing as you're coming to the hospital tomorrow for pre op, do you fancy having the surgery straight after it!  I was a bit taken aback and had to pack in a hurry but how's that for service. The next day it was all very on the ball and no waiting about, Ben consented me. The outcome wasn't what I expected, please click on my username for my profile but Ben came to see me to explain his findings and this is the same surgeon that saw me further down the line to break the news that I was now stage 4. I remember he kept tapping my leg to bring me back to the conversation, I'd probably gone mind numb at the news. Lovely man, excellent service, he'll make a great Consultant. This was all NHS service.

Hi ChocLab wow both of us in the same week!  I've got my pre assessment on Monday need a negative lateral flow on Tuesday and then action stations on Friday, I'm at the Yorkshire Cancer Centre in Leeds. I will be thinking about you and hope all goes well  I'll look forward to catching up afterwards, go kick it into touch xx

Hi Amanda now that's what I call a first class service,  no waiting and worrying,  the NHS is amazing isn't it. How are you now? My 37 year old niece is at stage 4B endometrial stromal sarcoma she is 2 and a half years from hysterectomy and diagnosis she's had ups and downs but she's doing well and returned to work full time 8 weeks after her first surgery she's a hard act for me to follow x

Hi Choclab and Jane66, I have my pre-op on Monday too with surgery booked for the 11th August. I’m in South Yorkshire. Still waiting on results from mri/X-ray that I had end of last week. 

Hi Mavis26 We are all going to be busy over the next week or two aren't we! I hope you don't have to wait much longer for your MRI and xray results. I used to work in Sheffield so probably not far from you. My appointment is at 11.20 on Monday so we could catch up after we are both done x
