Hi all,
So after a month's wait after surgery I finally have my results. A bit of a recap - Hysterectomy was performed after a long-winded few years of investigations where a teeny tiny polyp was removed and found to contain Complex Atypical Hyperplasia (pre-cancer). Post-hysterectomy results are that the womb had pre-cancer in many places and cancer was found. Grade 1a but confined to one layer of the inner muscle wall. As I was still menstruating this wouldn't have been seen or could have been biopsied under the lining until it was out of me.
Obviously I've already done all the hard work with the hysterectomy which is deemed to be 'curative'. No other treatment needed. The only issue is my ovaries were retained due to my age. No cancer was found anywhere else other than womb wall (no cervix or tubes) so a MDT meeting is going ahead tomorrow to discuss the risk of leaving the ovaries in. They seem to think I am at no more risk than an average person now but want to be double sure and speak to an Ovarian-specialist oncologist.
I now finally have a lovely CNS (hip hip hooray) and she is going to this meeting tomorrow and I have been told both consultant and CNS will call me tomorrow. CNS seems to think it's likely I will have a CT scan and to be put on observation until a more suitable time for them to come out (when I am no longer self-employed and get a full time job with sick pay would be my ideal scenario!).
Feeling extremely relieved and ever so lucky. It's amazing really to think I had cancer but didn't know it until it was out. I am ever so thankful for my clever, kind and methodical consultant. I feel like I can deal with whatever else I have to do. I am going to have my first bath since hysterectomy tonight to celebrate .. I've been too scared to but he said to go for it!
Hi Cakenport. So pleased to read your post. The great thing is you fi ally have a CNS to call if you have any worries to go with a really conscientious and caring consultant. The wait was worth it.
Now go and have that bath but be careful getting in and out!
Sending happy hugs, Barb xx

Thanks so much MrsBJH. She was extremely lovely, knowledgable and took the time to speak to me after the consultant. She's given me a second CNS too if she's not there. It's good to not think I have to rely on getting through to GP again as that's all I was told to do after surgery.
Thanks for the update! I’m glad you’ve got an appointment soon and will soon know more about the way forward.
Update: I met with Oncologist today and he was very upbeat and sees no reason why ovaries have to come out. He says the risk is minimal. Pending CT scan (which he booked today for me to have within two weeks) all is looking well. They have agreed to give me an annual ultrasound to check ovaries which, to me, gives me an advantage on any ladies who haven't had any cancer to be honest. I can't ask for more than that!
That’s wonderful news! I’m really pleased for you.
