Well I got my results back from my hysterectomy. It’s stage 1B grade 2 but she said it might be going to grade3 ( don’t understand that). It’s endometrial carcinoma and they said I’ll be getting chemotherapy, radiotherapy and Brachytherapy. I was shocked as I wasn’t expecting so much treatment. I’ve got an appointment with the oncologist on Thursday to discuss my treatment. Xxxx

  • Hi Hawthorn, I feel for you with the shock you’ve had. When I got my results I wasn’t expecting any treatment and it floored me when they told me. I can remember just sitting there frozen with shock. I’d recommend phoning your CNS Monday to clarify this grade 2 to grade 3 issue. It’s good that it’s stage 1B which means it’s contained within what was removed and that any treatment is just to help prevent recurrence.

  • Hi I'm sorry to read that you've got so much unexpected treatment to think about but on the other hand I'm pleased for you.

I myself was stage 1b/grade 3 serous but was only offered 3 x Brachytherapy sessions as an Option. Had I been offered the treatment you're about to undergo I might not find myself where I am now as incurable so I'd jump at the chance. If I'd had the knowledge I've amassed from here over the last 2 years I'd have insisted on the whole gamut of adjuvant treatment on offer!

Grade 2 mean the cancer cells look abnormal and re growing slightly faster. Grade 3 means the cells look very different from normal cells and can grow quickly.

Come back after you've seen your Oncologist on Thursday but if you've any questions fire away.

    Sending hugs, Barb xx

  • Hi Barb and MarmiteFan59, thank you both for replying and settling me. I get into a terrible state when I’m waiting on results. They did tell me when I got my biopsy results that I was grade 2 borderline 3. Then they said yesterday grade2 but might change to grade 3 but I don’t know what it is that’s going to make it change. It will probably be nothing but it is so easy to get me in a state about nothing. I’ve even got to the stage that positive things they are telling me I’m thinking did they say that or was that me making it up. My whole personality has  changed since all this  cancer business started. I think I was shocked yesterday because I was told in the beginning that if it hadn’t spread I might only need Brachytherapy and when they came out with the works I panicked. Since I’ve had time to think I know that it a good idea. Do you know if there could be any reason now that they could change my stage? Thank You ladies.   Xxx jean

  • Hallo again Jean, here’s the Macmillan link about grades and stages https://www.macmillan.org.uk/cancer-information-and-support/womb-cancer/womb-cancer-stages

And here’s a screenshot of the grades part

     Hi
I’m not medical, nor Is anyone else on the group, but it may be that some of the cells may look more like grade 3’s than 2’s so treatment-wise they may err on the side of 3 to be on the safe side. But you’re best asking your CNS that on Monday to be sure.
