Hello ladies. I hope everyone is as well as can be. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience & if so what was the outcome ? I had an urgent scan following 4months of pain in my pelvis and lower back, aling with abnormal bleeding (ablation arranged for this coming Wednesday) CIN1 “at most” found following colposcopy (no biopsy). My results came back yesterday & have been sent straight to Gynae- atypical appearance of endometrium at fundus. Endometrial thickness 16.6mm. In Aug 2021 all was normal with scan & thickness was 7mm. I’m now thinking my ablation & salpingectomy won’t go ahead ? I’ve not been on any form of contraception for 9 years. Thank you for any advice

Mrs14 Hi Aimee and welcome to our corner of the Online Community. Reading your bio you've really been going through it for a long time I feel for you.
Until more tests have been done, the norm for Womb cancer seems to be Utrasound, Hysteroscopy with biopsy. After histology from biopsy Perhaps CT scan and MRI then Hysterectomy with removal of Fallopian tubes, Ovaries and Cervix.
The treatment differs for Cervical cancer and I can see you've also posted there so I hope you get some helpful answers.
When you get more test results, come back and let us know.
Sending gentle welcoming hugs, Barb xx

Hi Mrs14,
I had a kind of similar experience when I was in my 20's, now 70's! They found something 'they did not like' on the neck of the womb. In those days it was the practice to cauterize it, which they did. That resulted in two miscarriages and I then had two pregnancies with the babies stitched into the womb!! When I was diagnosed with womb cancer the consultant wanted to know about the neck of the womb (it must have looked a mess). When I told her she said 'Oh we don't do it like that now'. I presume they use radiotherapy, which would be less intrusive. I must have been very naive because I never thought of cancer and the word was never mentioned. Whatever your problem is I'm sure they will sort you out. xxx
I seem to be doing one step forward to steps back at the min. I’m not optimistic that I’ll have my surgery as planned on Wednesday after the results, I’m keeping my fingers crossed though ! I’m planned for endometrial ablation & sterilisation. It’s the not knowing for certain what’s going on that’s got me a little apprehensive xx
Hi again. I've been looking up about this, and it sounds very much like the 'thing' I had. CIN 1 is not cancer, but can turn into it if left. (Which you are not doing.) I can't remember if I had a D and C at the same time, but I definitely had a D and C after one of my miscarriages at 6 weeks. (They wanted to make sure nothing was left in there.) It could be that they will sort it all out at once. I'd be interested to know what the alternative method to cauterization is these days. I meant to ask, but didn't. Its far too late now, but if things had advanced 40 years ago, I may not have lost two babies!!!! Good luck. xxx
That’s awful . They never took a biopsy of the cervix & the letter said CIN1 “at most”. They are leaving things there as they are. Just had a call off the Gynae secretary- the one who’s doing my ablation & sterilisation. She said you want another appointment? I said NO concerning scan results have been sent to my consultant by my GP !!!! She said “oh I’ll get him to have a look at them before Wednesday” ( day of my planned surgery). Honest I feel like I’m batting my head against a brick wall trying to get someone to take notice of the amount of pain I’m in on a daily basis (without bleeding). Then this atypical presentation of endometrium towards fundus…. Sonographer report states ?post ablation cause….. I’ve not even had the ablation yet !!!!! 16.6mm endometrial thickness too. I’m so frustrated. I’ll keep you up to date with whatever happens next

CIN1 is mildly abnormal, pre cancerous cells. It would normally not be treated at all, but closely monitored, as this level of cell abnormality can regress if your body can suppress the hpv virus. It is highly unlikely it would ever become cancer. CIN2 or CIN3 would be treated by a leep/LLETZ procedure, which removes the abnormal cells with a thin wire.
All levels of CIN are pre cancerous and would never be treated by radiotherapy.

Hi NannyAnny
The loop procedure removes cells using a wire loop heated by an electrical current. I presume it might be an advance on whatever was done when you required treatment, but whatever they did worked for you which is the main thing! They do keep a close eye on your cervix if you become pregnant after this, and do still put in the stitch if it’s required,

Hi Sarah,
I think I had a cut? That weakened the womb neck. I lost the first pregnancy at 20weeks, and had a mini labour. (Worse than an ordinary one). The baby literally started to drop out. I lost the second pregnancy at 6 weeks, so barely knew about it. I had a tummy bug which weakened the womb neck. They then decided to inject the neck of the womb from the moment I was deemed pregnant until they could get a stitch in at 14 weeks. I even threatened with my eldest daughter at the same time I lost the first pregnancy, but they advised me to leave work (I was teaching 4 and 5 year olds). I took it very carefully whilst pregnant, had a dreadful induced birth with her, but I got her!!! The second time around was much easier, except daughter 2 decided to arrive whilst the stitch was still in!!!!!
At the time I was very grateful for all the help I got off the medical people, and thought it was amazing what they could do then!
