Hi I got told on the 27th January that I have endometrial cancer my mind is all over the place at the moment I dont think its sunked in yet. I was just wondering how you have to wait for your 1st CT scan and MRI scan?  I know I might have to wait a bit longer for my MRI scan as the hospital is sending for a private open scan, sorry another question after all your scans how long do you have to wait for any sort of treatment? Many Thanks xx

  • Hi and welcome Pixie2uk..Every hospital is different..I have stage 2b cervical cancer. I had an MRI on 5th January this year then a pet scan on 18th Jan and a final planning CT scan on 20th Jan. Appointment with consultant on 19th to sign consent forms for my treatment and was told it can take 2/3 weeks b4 treatment begins. It's coming up to 2 weeks now so I'm getting nervous but this forum has lots of great information, tips and advice. And the ladies are all lovely. Don't be afraid to ask questions both off your team and on here.

    Take care

  • Hi Pixie2uk I assume it can vary from hospital to hospital due to current demand, I was very fortunate I received my results on a Wednesday and had my first scan on the Friday. My feet didn't touch the floor to honest I was diagnosed 9th June  had Surgery 8th July with1st Chemo 6th Setpember.... I was told I had the type known as 'Serous' and it was known to be very unpredictable and very aggressive so that may have had some bearing on the speed of everything.

Just remember to either take someone with you to appointments or a note pad and pen, write all your questions down beforehand as chances are you won;t remember half of whats said.and don't be afraid to ask about anything your not clears on.

    Good luck and takes care

  • Hi Pixie, I found out that I had endometrial cancer on 19th November 2021, and had my MRI and chest x ray on the 23rd, with results through on the 26th. My hospital is super - I think that may be quicker than many.

  • Thank you I've got my CT scan booked for the 9th February,  I will write questions down as my nurse phoned me this morning and asked if I had any questions a d I just said no but after she got off the phone I did have questions and I did the wrong thing and looked things up on the internet which gives you very mixed answers. I feel at the moment it's not happening to me and they have got me mixed up with someone else even know I know this is not true

    Thanks Linda

  • Hi Linda, what I’d suggest you do is phone your nurse back and ask your questions! That’s what they’re there for. Honestly they will be happy to hear from you. The CNS team should be there office hours Monday to Friday and even if you get an answer phone message they will call you back. You can also ask them for an email address if you’d rather talk that way. I contacted mine at least once or twice a week from diagnosis up to hysterectomy, and a couple of times since. They said to me at the start that they’d much rather women did that then let it all build up and only phone when they’d got to the frantic level.

  • Hi . As I think we all go into "not taking in all on board" mode when speaking to the experts and asking if we've any question it might be an idea to have the call on speaker and record the conversation (after asking their permission). I recorded my conversation with my Oncologist and there were whole parts I couldn't recall!

Yes, we all wish the conversation relates to someone else but it is happening to us and we're all here for you.

    Hugs, Barb xx
