I was diagnosed with 'Serous' cancer of the womb in June 2020 and had Full Hysterectomy in July and chemo in September which I stopped due to side effects then just before Christmas I started to experience problems with my bowels and also a light brown vaginal discharge. I have a 6 month follow up appointment in a couple of days to discuss it and maybe get a check up, but i am curious if anyone has had similar issues, It sounds daft but as my cervix was also removed I didn't expect to see any discharge, I didn't even have any bleeding after my surgery. I am not sure which bothers me most the discharge or the loose bowels ( this has been constant for about 6- 8 weeks now } ( though i have heard this could be due to nerve damage ) I have no other symptoms really apart from a little fatigue and occasional backache but as I have back pain due to a previous injury i don't think / hope its connected.....
Hello, I have had my cervix removed (when I had my hysterectomy) and I think you are right to raise your concerns (change in bowel habits and unusual discharge). They may be nothing to worry about but far better to get it checked out as despite me too having had my cervix removed I have been told to be alert for these symptoms.
Hi nannyjanet It's always a good idea to get any discharge checked out so it's good you've an appointment coming up.
My bowel habits have definitely changed since my brachytherapy. If I needed to go, I needed to go! I frequently experienced quite sharp pains until the bowel had emptied.
I bought some Immodium to help with the diarrhoea. However my problems are now constipation due to the morphine I have to take. Things have eased a bit and I'm hoping that the chemo's working and reduced one of the tumours which was up against the bowel.
Sending hugs, Barb xx

Thanks for your replies and hope you are feeling well. .. i am glad i agreed to the check up as i still have both symptoms daily, ( since just before Christmas ), thankfully no pain or bloating...I have my appointment this afternoon so fingers crossed i may get some answers one way or another. I will post my 'results' ...thanks again x
I have just got back after my check up...they are requesting I have the camera to see if there is a blockage or a polyp in the bowel causing my problem . So I'm being referred to my local hospital for further investigation . I assume its precautionary as they say 'nothing fits' to it being associated with previous surgery, and as I havnt had any pain or bleeding it the best option for now.....so it's another waiting game. I'm not worrying too much for now but if the diarroeah continues as it is ...well that's another thing.
Hi nannyjanet.
Sorry to read about your symptoms. I am just warning you about the prep for the bowel camera. My husband had it a few months ago, and (to put it bluntly) I had poo everywhere. I would put something to cover your mattress and cover the way to the toilet unless you have hard floors. xxx
