I have had a full hysterectomy done 2 months ago for endometrial cancer and wasn't fully healed until December. First appointment of Vaginal Vault Brachytherapy completed successfully on December 22, then I got Covid and the December 29 appointment cancelled. I think I should be fine for my next appointment that will be January 5, and the final dose will most likely be January 12. Are there any prior studies over the past decade or so of outcomes where scheduling has been changed and what cancer overall survival will be like?

  • Hi I'm not aware of any studies, not sure where you'd find them. I do know some hospitals do the sessions weekly whereas  mine were done on Thursday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Have a chat with your CNS or Oncologist to find out more.

What stage/grade where you after histology and did you have any lymph node or LVSI scores?

Stage 1B Grade 2. Lymph Nodes were all negative which means no spread. Also no vascular spread occurred.

  • Hi  , Good there was no Lymph Nodes and LVSI, that usually seems to require Chemo/radiotherapy.

In my own case I was Stage 1B, grade 3 serous. I was O= Lymph nodes and no LVSI. They did find some malignant cells in my Peritoneal wash. I had 3 sessions of Brachytherapy given over a week. I'd had 4 quarterly face to face (face to fanny LOL) check-up and was told I was clear of recurrence.

I don't want to frighten you but based on my own experiences I'd have a chat with your Oncologist as you're grade 2 to ask about the possibility of further adjuvant treatments. I was led by my Oncologist and went for the optional Brachy. With the benefit of hindsight ,I now wish a year down the line, I'd requested chemo at the time but was delighted when I didn't seem to need it.

I'd I noticed in late July/August a shortness of breath and pains in my abdomen, my team discounted it as not being "womb related" A CT scan ordered by my GP has revealed I've lesions on my liver and spleen and 3 masses in my abdomen.

Just had second chemo cycle and fingers crossed all well but I won't know how the tumours have reacted until after cycle 3 when I'll have a CT scan.
