Hysterectomy recovery advice

Hi everyone, I had my hysterectomy 5 weeks this Tuesday.

I had a robotic hysterectomy and they took everything and I am extremely lucky as no further treatment is needed. I had a bleed two weeks into my recovery and have since had a lot of pressure. It feels like my Labia is twice the size but it’s not. It doesn’t hurt but is very uncomfortable all the time. If I walk about the pressure is worse. Pelvic floor exercises are also very painful to  and after I have done them I feel like I constantly need to wee. I have spoken to the nurse and she has told me to stop all pelvic exercises and thinks that it is inflammation and it will settle and to ring her back again in two weeks if I am still feeling the same. I was concerned about a prolapse. I know something isn’t right and I am worrying about it. Has anyone else suffered with similar symptoms ? Thank you for listening sending hugs Em xxx

  • Hi Craft Queen

I had robotic hysterectomy last Tuesday and so far I feel a bit better each day.  Did they give you anti inflammatories to take after your operation? I am on 3 day so I don’t know if that has made a difference.  I am also having some dates every day as a lot of the pain I was getting earlier was from bowels being blocked up.-they have really helped.  I am so sorry you are finding it painful to walk as that is one thing which they encourage you to do.  I hope things start to improve-be kind to yourself and take it slowly and hopefully you will soon start to feel better.  Hugs xx

  • Hi again Em

I have read my post from yesterday snd it makes me seem so smug and trivialising your pain and worries.  I thought I was wonder woman yesterday overdid things and it has ended up giving me increased pain.  We are all in this together and I really do hope you find some answers and start to improve XX

  • Hi Walkinglady

Please don’t think that. I definitely didn’t and really appreciated your reply my lovely Blush It is so so easy to over so it and your body definitely lets you know. I hope that your pain has eased. It literally is day by day. I have spoken to the GP today and apparently I also had a largeBlushmount of endometriosis which can cause issues with the healing process and that is what the GP thinks the pressure is , from lots of inflammation and bruising. Having spoken to her makes me feel aBlushit better so all is good Blush take care of yourself love n hugs Em xxxx

  • Hi Em. I seem to remember another lady here was told to cease her pelvic floor exercises for a while until the inflammation subsides.

If you continue to worry, call your CNS for reassurance.

    Hugs, Barb xx
