I was having sleep issues pre hysterectomy but now everything has gone, ovaries etc, at night it’s like a bulb goes on and I can’t sleep until the early hours. Anyone else having this issue and if so does anything help xxx
Hi Craft Queen. I've been a very light sleeper for years and if there's be something on my wish list it would be to go to bed about 10pm and not wake up until 7am.
As I'm long retired it's not a problem but even back when I was at work if there a problem in the office I'd be thinking about it all night. This goes back to the days when computers and spreadsheets were new and a lady in my office who deputised for me when I was out would unfailingly muck up a spreadsheet formula somehow, try to put it right, fail, deny all knowledge that she's done something then I'd worry all night until I'd get back in the next day, spot what she's done and all was OK.
I find counting backwards from 1000 in decreases of 7 can work. 1000,993,986,979 etc. works but I was an accountant!! LOL
Some people play mood music softly, waves or something like that.
Hope it sorts itself out soon. I'm getting used to getting up at 3am and having a peppermint team to help my stomach cramps!
Hugs, Barb xx

Hi Craftqueen,
oh how I feel your pain! I literally cannot remember the last time I had a full nights sleep! Since my surgery 6 weeks ago I am having great problems actually getting to sleep, I’m usually still wide awake after midnight, and I have found I wake after 4 hours no matter what time I go to sleep and am awake for almost an hour. It’s so annoying! My husband has tried to sleep in the same bed once since my surgery, and I drove him to distraction, but the more someone ‘wants’ you to go to sleep, the further sleep seems to be. I can feel really drowsy before bed, watching tv, but as soon as I get into bed it’s as though a switch is flipped. Having spoken to a friend who is many years post breast cancer, she too has the same issues, and never sleeps more than 4 hours, even now! Gosh I hope we get a better pattern sorted out soon. I wouldn’t mind but I don’t even nap during the day or evening, so I can’t blame that either! Love Emm xx
I am exactly the same a year on I cannot sleep lol at all! and if I do I get around 3hours and you would think 2 kids a puppy and lots of work I would be able to lol hopefully one do we will all get a good nights sleep xx
Hi Barb, thanks for the advice, will definitely try the counting missing of 7 and let you know how it goes love Em xxx
Hi Emm, me too it’s the getting to sleep Last night when I finally got to sleep I think just after 1ish, I woke up at 3:30 drenched from a hot sweat, it was like I had been swimming
Im not sleeping in the day either so you think when our heads hit the pillow we would be out like lights. I’m going to try Barbs suggestion tonight and count backwards from 1000 missing out 7 each t
