Bleeding starting nearly three weeks after op

I had a robotic laparoscopic hysterectomy almost three weeks ago. It was fine and I have felt really great. Surgeon phoned with update on Thursday.
I had stage 3 cancer and they have said it has spread beyond the womb into the muscles and I am being referred for radiotherapy. To complicate things the urologist phoned last week to tell me that I have a small stone on my kidney. He offered to operate but since I’m not in pain I declined. I have had quite a bit of bleeding this morning for the first time, some bright red and perhaps it’s caused by the stone passing. Still no pain.
I am feeling so great I’ve perhaps been doing too much. I’ll have an easy day and if still the same will phone the nurse or my GP, though I have no confidence in them since they treated me for a kidney infection for four months before a different GP sent me for a cystoscopy which led to me being passed on for a hysteroscopy and the discovery of stage 3 cancer.  Feeling positive as usual.

  • Hi . So sorry to read they got it so wrong with their earlier diagnoses. Some ladies here had quite significant bleeds shortly after their surgery it turned out to be nothing too sinister but I'd call your CNS tomorrow just to be on the safe side. I don't know if a kidney stone passing would cause it but I do remember a friend of mine said when she passed one of her stones the pain was excruciating.

It must be awful to have no faith in your medical team, very much a postcode lottery I suspect - my care here in rural Lincolnshire has been fantastic - I have complaints, just praise for them - my CNS has become a good friends even though we rarely speak - same dark sense of humour I suspect.

    Stay positive, stay safe.

Big hugs your way, Barb xHugging

  • OOPs should have written No complaints - Hubby's waffling away in the background as usual and distracting me!

Thanks. I’m a very positive person. I’m sure it’ll be ok and I won’t worry about things I have no control over. I’ll probably phone the nurse tomorrow.
    Hope you are well.

  • Hi Justmeoap,

I've heard other ladies on here having bleeds after their operation. I didn't, but was very very careful. I was petrified of anything else happening!!! I would ring your CNS. I thought passing kidney stones was painful. I've heard of people having them zapped into tiny bits, which are then passed easily.

I also think that once they have got hold of you they give you a thorough check up, like an MOT! After my scans I was told that my thyroid was multiplying down the back of my windpipe! I knew nothing about that. I was referred to the throat department, but they were not worried. I just have to go back if I have trouble eating or breathing!!! So far, so good.

    Good luck xxx

Thanks. Sure it will be ok. Hope you are doing ok, I’m not actually worried but previous misdiagnosis has made me a bit more concerned about niggling things. I’ll phone the nurse tomorrow and will hopefully hear about my radiotherapy in the next week or so.
