Carcinosarcoma

Hi all

I was diagnosed with Carcinosarcoma last week, had my CT scan on Friday and will get my results on Wednesday and hopefully a plan for surgery/treatment. My emotions are all over the place as I never expected this from a seemingly harmless Polyp which was removed on 22nd June. I know it is Grade 3 but obviously no staging yet.
I just wondered if there is anyone on here who was diagnosed with this? Thanks

Kate xx

  • Hi there.

I'm sure I've read there are other ladies on here who have the same diagnosis so hopefully they'll reply to you soon.

Come back and tell us what your treatment plan will be after your consultation on Wednesday.

    Sending hugs, Bxx

  • Hi Kate, I have carcinomasarcoma. It looks like you have your consultation today, so best wishes for that. I am happy to chat to you about my diagnosis if that would help. Just let me know when you are ready (I have previously posted the long tale if you want to read that first!).

    sending very best wishes x

  • Hi Grapesofwrath

I have read your story and I can only say that you are an amazing woman who is an inspiration to us all. You seem so accepting and dignified in your diagnosis and I wish you all the very best on your journey.

I got my results on Wednesday and I have been incredibly fortunate in that the CT scan of my chest, abdo and pelvis were all clear, the cancer only seems to have been present in the polyp which was removed. I actually can’t believe it but my consultant was definite. I have still to have a full hysterectomy and lymph node removal on 29th of July (belt and braces approach) although no cancer is currently present. It will be done laparoscopically so I should be home in a few days. If anything shows in the pathology I will still be given chemo or radiotherapy but will deal with that if it happens.

  • . Hi Kate, great news to read that your CT scan showed your chest, abdo and pelvis were all clear and that you're having your op done laparoscopically on 29th. You might find this link to what to take in my overnight bag useful.

It might also be a good idea to download this booklet Understanding Womb (Endometrial) Cancer I found it invaluable in my journey.

It’s always helpful to others if you write a little something (or a lot) about yourself and your journey to date. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) It’s helpful to other members with a similar diagnosis who can then hopefully answer your questions. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. You can amend or update it at any time. If you’re not sure what to write, just click on my username.

  • Hi Kate, that’s the best possible news for you - that’s so great and hopefully when the surgery is done and you’ve recovered, that will be the last of this for you. I do hope so.
    tons of best wishes xx

  • Hello Grapesofwrath

ive read your inspirational profile and long may you continue to feel well.  Sending you lots of love and good wishes.

just reaching out to you because my mum has a recurrence of endometrial cancer in her pelvic lymph nodes and para ortic lymph nodes after receiving the all clear about 3 years ago

shes just finished her last chemo. Scan is on 28th of this month to check progress.

i just wanted to mention that mums receiving immunotherapy too (we think!).  It’s a 2 year trial at the Royal Marsden.  I wondered if you wanted to explore it?

    happy to share details

lots of love and best wishes xxHeartHeart

  • Hi Lucki, thanks so much for thinking about me. I have my consultation tomorrow after my scan last week, and we are due to talk treatment options, so I will definitely be asking about immunotherapy. I was in the process of being signed up to a trial this time last year, but as my cancer was advancing so quickly, they had to drop that and start the chemo ASAP. Is your mum doing okay on the chemo - lots of best wishes to you both for a good scan result.

thanks again for thinking of me - v kind of you xx

  • Hello Grapes

not a problem at all.  I hope your consultation goes well tomorrow   I’m sure it will

Mum is receiving Atezolizumab we think (unless she’s receiving placebo) and it’s supposed to have very promising results and can hold the nasty cells back for quite some time

my mum asked to be referred to Royal Marsden because as you know they are fabulous and world specialists   She’s got nothing but praise for them and they put her on the trial

mum is doing well   She’s finished chemo   Has her scan next week and I assume will get her results the following week… not sure…  I think mum is hoping the chemo will zap it all away   I think she will be quite crushed if it shows growth..

we are all trying to stay positive and place our faith in the doctors and above all in God

wishing you tons of luck and best wishes for tomorrow

please keep in touch xx HeartHeart

  • Hi Grapesofwrath

i hope your results are favourable tomorrow and you are able to be considered for immunotherapy. I will be thinking about you Fingers crossed tone1

  • Just a wee update to say that I am having my robotic laperoscopic hysterectomy and lymph node removal on the 29th, so next Thursday. A bit nervous but will be glad to have it over with. I am hoping to only be in for a couple of days and then home to recuperate. Under strict instructions to take it easy so for once in my life I will be listening
