I had my Pre op yesterday and have now been given a date for surgery on 8th July. the term 'Full Hysterectomy appears to mean just that ..they will take Ovaries, Uterus, Fallopian Tubes, Cervix, and all nodes in the pelvic area plus a good size slice from the Omentum. Amazingly this will all be done via Robotics and Laparoscopy or key hole to you and me. Although surprised it's key hole with removal via the Vagina I am relieved as I was worried about the pain associated with traditional surgery.. It,s all becoming very 'real' now, though I have to ask ..Is it normal feeling so calm ??.. will I pay the price later and just fall apart ? I didn't get much sleep last night as kept going over all the conversations in my head. thankfully I have a good support network so as advised I.'ll deal with it one day at a time and keep sewing to keep me busy.

Take Care everyone

  • Hi . I can honestly say you're like the majority of us were - in the total "Numb" stage. The "C" word happens to other people, not me. I had all the procedures done laparoscopically  (plus a Pelvic Flush) done last September. I recall walking into Op Admissions thinking "This isn't real"

Afterwards I experienced discomfort rather than pain and that was really only when getting out of bed. It's all a distant memory now.

Don't forget, any questions - fire them off!
