HI all

It will be three weeks on Friday since my hysterectomy.  Lymph nodes in groin removed but not abdomen as they were healthy !  now waiting for results from pathology to know what is planned next.  I was stage 1b Grade 3.  Hysterectomy was done keyhole and all seems well.  Had problems with rash which was apparently due to dressings on wound in theatre and after.  Hadn't shown up until I came home and was wearing normal clothes again.

Haven't managed too many walks so far.  Not too warm here in Scotland.  But am managing a little more each day.  How long have others waited for pathology results ?  My consultant said 3 - 4 weeks.

  • Hi Babs,

Different hospitals and different consultants seem to have slightly different opinions!!! I've read of people on here having the same stage as me, but having radiotherapy or brachytherapy as well. My consultant said she'd like to keep radiotherapy as a back up in case of more problems, so I've only had the operation for 1A. I'm sure if you ask, they will tell you the reasoning. I've learnt to ask about anything I am not happy about!!

When my daughter had breast cancer they said they were going to throw the whole lot at it because of her age. She was 37 at the time and had the lump taken away, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. It seems to have worked 6 years later. So, there are more than one reason for a lot of treatment.xxx

    Hi Barb

just checked with my Macmillan nurse. Pathology showed lymph nodes all clear but some LVSI invasion. Everything else clear.
I was hoping to do just radiotherapy. I have had so much to cope with already this year I’m not sure I could do chemo just now.

  • Hi Babs.

It'll be because of the LVSI I think. Ask your Oncologist if just the external radiotherapy will be sufficient. I remember the window for Brachytherapy was 6-8 weeks after the op. A lot of ladies here have coped well with chemo but if you're not sure double check with your Oncologist.

Sending you hugs, Barb xx Hugging
