I’ve just heard that some patients at my hospital who are waiting for a hysterectomy are being offered progesterone. Has anyone here been offered that or taken it? Any information at all would be helpful. I don’t know yet if I’m to be offered it or not but I’d like to know something about it. Thanks
Hi, I was diagnosed before Christmas. I was prescribed progesterone by the consultant due to me having a really really heavy period and clotting. It stopped my bleeding within a couple of days and just get some slight bleeding every now and then now. I have had weeks of waiting with it being Christmas and awaiting an MDT meeting next Wednesday to discuss options for surgery etc. They said the progesterone should help to stop the cancer growing. Xxx
Hi, I was diagnosed just before Christmas while being investigated for endometriosis. I've been given progesterone since I've opted not to have the hysterectomy (well for now, I get my MRI results tomorrow). Like Bella said the progesterone sheds the lining of the womb and stops it thickening which in turn helps prevent the cancer growing back. I've had spotting daily since starting it and some dizziness but overall no issues. Hope this helps x
