struggling after meetiing with chemo people today. i just dont get how there could be a 10% amount of papillary serous and the rest endo adecarcinoma on the biospy yet absolutely NOTHING when they did the hystereectomy. not a trace of it - but yet still need chemo. just seems weird that they would randomly cut out the part that was the high grade and then see nothing else. feeling desperate because worried that maybe it originated from somewhere else in body??

  •  Hi meb70

It may be no-one has answered as no-one has had a similar situation. I'd suggest go into Ask an Expert on the Macmillan site then put your question to the Macmillan Cancer Nurses, they may be able to help.

It's so frustrating, hope you get some answers,

    Big hugs, Barb xx

  • Hi Meb70

I hope by now you have been given more information. But I have just seen your post. My initial thought was that maybe it wasn’t “random” that they took the high grade at biopsy. Maybe they could see the tumour. Maybe it was contained within a polyp. That was the case for me 5 years ago. The polyp and womb lining removed for biopsy contained most of the cancer. I had a small amount of serous and clear cell left in the hysterectomy sample. I have been well since and have my 5 year check in a couple of weeks. I hope all will be well for you also. Xx

  • thank u so much for responding! no they havent said much more than it is weird, but can happen . they did say like you did, that sometimes they can see it so they go right for it. I am scheduled for chemo and radiation which i am not looking forward to . is the serous that you had papillary? is that the same thing actually. I am so happy to hear you are well!!

  • Yes I had papillary serous. I think there is only one kind of endometrial serous.
