Hi everyone.
I had my surgery 2 weeks ago and recovery is going ok.
I had my follow up on 16th and they told me that I have stage 2 cancer and they said that they got it all in the removal of the womb etc.
They said that radiotherapy would be the next port of call once I have healed fully from the surgery but something I didnt realise was that its a 1 time only thing.
The doctor said I could save the radiotherapy if the cancer returns there but I'm in a dilemma as to whether to have radio now as an extra kick up the cancers bum.
There is cancer in our familys genetics because I lost my sister to breast cancer when she was 37.
I have an app to discuss the radiotherapy and also the histology but I don't know what questions to ask them in order to help my decision.
If theres anyone that can help me with poss questions to ask then please let me know as I have my app on weds this week and its short notice because I only got the call this afternoon offering me the appointment.
Debbie
Hi and welcome to the forum. As I understand it you can only have radiotherapy once in an area of the body. I did have radiotherapy after my surgery 3 years ago but had to have it then, I wasn't offered the choice to wait and see. I am sure there will be others on the forum who were given that choice so hopefully someone else will be along soon to give you advice on questions.
I hope all goes well at your appointment on Wednesday and you get the information you need.
Hugs, Lesley xx
Hi lesley
Did your radiotherapy work and keep the cancer at bay? I have seen so many different names on this forum but all I know is I have endometrial cancer and had a hysterectomy which included removal of fallopian tubes and ovaries.
At the follow up I was told its stage 2 and that was it andvi can have radiotherapy now or later.
Maybe the weds app will fill in the blanks because I feel kinda dumb not knowing what questions to ask or even what the majority of the words are or mean
Hi Debzi, it sounds like you need to talk through what the treatment involves and any plus or minus points to consider. I didn't have radiotherapy so I can't advise you myself. You could try contacting The Eve Appeal (they have a website and a phone number) for information, or maybe phone Macmillan, or post a question in the Ask A Nurse section of this site. When I went for appointments I took a list of my questions in a notebook and wrote down the answers too as sometimes there is lots of information to think about. Don't be afraid to ask the medics to explain things if you haven't taken it all in at first. Have you had any genetic tests concerning your family's history of cancer? I am glad that your recovery from surgery is going well. Well done!
I needed the radiotherapy as I was Stage 1a Grade 2 with LVSI (Lymphovascular space invasion) which meant they found some cells after surgery that could have gone on to develop cancer again somewhere. I finished treatment 3 years ago and am due my next check up and examinations in a few weeks, I couldn't have one in May because of the Covid situation so all being well at this next check up then yes, so far so good 3 years on - fingers very firmly crossed!!
Hugs, Lesley xx
Thats very good news that for 3 years all test have been clear I will cross everything for your future results being clear.
Thankyou again x x
Thankyou for all the info you posted, I did not know any out the eve appeal or the fact I could have a genetics test or even that there was such a thing!
I will get on it all today and hopefully be well armed and informed by tomorrow.
Thankyou again your info has given me a lot to do.
I hope you are well and keeping strong and your checks are clear.

Hi Debbie
Welcome to the forum. I had my TLH, BSO Omentectomy & Peritoneal Flush just over 4 weeks ago, recovery has been swift & easy. My Oncologist revealed I had Stage 1B grade 3. The removal of the womb had taken all my cancer. The tumour measured 4cms, my lymph nodes were clear, my LMSI was zero but the flush has revealed malignant cells.
My Oncologist had recommended brachytherapy (just 3 x 10 minute treatments at weekly intervals) to bring me up to 94% likelihood of no reoccurrence. As far as I understood it, I could have external radiotherapy at a later date if needed.
So ask the question, can you have radiation more than once in a specific area of the body? I start my brachytherapy next Thursday.
Let us know how you get on.
Take care, Barb xx

I read your first initial introduction to this site and its pretty much along the same path as me finding out about mine.
It was my daughter who insisted I get the bleeding checked out and then the biopsy ct scan and mri scan followed and lastly the hysterectomy.
They didn't take out my lymph nodes either but im still in the dark og grading stage etc so I will def ask those questions tomorrow.
Thankyou barb and keep kicking its arse
