Hi everyone , my name is Sarah and im 51 years old .
I was diagnosed with cancer in may 2025 and have a course of chemotherapy which my body coped well with and didn't interfere with my daily life.
Radiation for 25 days and it caused terrible radiation burns and blisters which prevents me from sitting or walking , standing for any period of time is painful .
I am recently home from a hospice for pain management , to discover no treatment is able to treat or cure my vulva .I am at peace ️
What i would like to know is if any of you fellow warrior women have managed to sit its been since October last year and I would love just "to sit down "
Any advice much appreciated, be kind to yourselves and thank you x
Hello Sarahjean, I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis and discomfort that makes you uncomfortable and unable to sit and walk. I still have to sit on cushions, three years after my vulvectomy. Some ladies found comfort by sitting on a rubber ring like a child’s swimming ring. Not sure whether you have tried this. I hope your pain management will help. Hopefully other ladies here may have advice for you. Please keep in touch. Sending love.
Thank you Ex Lancashire lass .
I hope you are managing to cope and live as much life as you can .
Hi SarahJean
So sorry to hear about what you've gone through, what a harrowing time for you.
I had my WLE for SCC on 5.3.26, plus 7 lymph nodes removed. Then I had 2 infections and a second op to remove more tissue a few weeks ago. It's not been pleasant and I'm still recovering.
I know it's early days for me but I still can't sit and walking is painful. I sit on sofa with my legs up and in a 'V' like a frog. When I do sit I use a soft fairly level cushion and I take it with me everywhere I go. I find it more comfy to lean back in a chair and try to lift my feet up on another chair. I can't sit for long either. I always take paracetamol before I go anywhere which helps a bit.
Ive tried a travel neck cushion memory foam which helps a little, but, like you, tried many options. It's not easy.
Hoping you recover soon.
