Hi Molls
i had the same op in 2022 lymph nodes removed aswell, i had to wait 2 weeks for the results of the lymph node biopsies and its a killer, the waiting is the hardest, i was very lucky, no spread and no need for chemo or radiotherapy, i did have a horrendous infection in the left groin where they took the lymph nodes from , but it healed well eventually. its a terrifying journey, but if i can offer you hope, i was ok, and in April i will be 4 years clear. i am currently having therapy to address the psychological impacts which is really helping, as my approach at the time was to bury myself in work and pretend it never happened, which of course is very silly. i am doing well, and wish for the best for you. you are not alone, there are too many of us going through this, keep reaching out for support.
Hello Moll, I had a vulvectomy in March2022 and as cancer cells were found in the lymph node removed, I had 18 further lymph modes removed a few weeks later which were fortunately clear. I then had 5 weeks of radiotherapy. I still suffer with vulval lichen planus which is what caused my cancer, but I'm checked over 5 times a year by my Oncologist/Gynaecologist and my Dermatologist
I think we are always worried about this cancer recurring as it sometimes does, but I live my life a day at a time and enjoy it. The worse thing is waiting for test results, operations etc but you do eventually get used to it. There are lovely groups here and on Facebook if you need advice or to chat.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
