Hi Anniee here,
I was diagnosed with Vulva cancer last February, then told they had not got it all so was referred to RM Chelsea where I underwent a WLE. All has been good, until recently when I have started to pass blood when opening my bowel. I was told on my last colonoscopy that I had a large hemoroid but nothing was done. It bled rarely. Now ai find I am bleeding daily, after initial bleed it stops and further motions passed during day seem blood free.
My question is because of my history with vulva cancer, should I be requesting a colonoscopy having been 3 yrs since my last one.
Hi Anniee, I would suggest seeing your GP, as it sounds like it needs checking out. Or contact your surgeon and see what he suggests. Better to be safe.
Definitely go to your GP or contact your cancer surgeon as they could decide to refer you urgently to the recto surgeons at the hospital urgently.
Something similar happened to a friend of mine years ago, although not following cancer surgery, and she kept bleeding after her bowel was filling with blood intermittently. She had a previous op to tie off haemorrhoids and the surgeon had tied an artery to her piles which was bleeding out when the band tying off the piles came away!! She nearly lost her life, if she hadn’t been in hospital at the time as she collapsed whilst in A&E!!
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
