Hello
First off I just want to say already how helpful I’ve found this group, although I’m sad to be here.
I found what I can only describe as a white, wart like growth on my vagina last week, on my Fourchette region (I’m learning all the official names for these parts!) The area isn’t raised like a wart but flat with a rough texture and irregular edges.
My GP has sent me for a 2 week wait appt with gynae which is this Thursday. I’m so scared as to what this growth could be. I’m only 29 and absolutely terrified. I’ve never had a history of genital warts although not ruling that out given that I’ve read you can be a carrier for a number of years.
I've also done loads of reading on here (thank you) about VIN although I have no itching or soreness to the area. It was actually an accidental find more than an irritation.
I’m so anxious and can’t concentrate. I have had health anxiety as it is. I’ve been trying not to check the area but checked tonight and all I can say is I wish I hadn’t as I’ve noticed the area has grown.
I know I need to wait to see the gynaecologist Thursday for a definite diagnosis but does anyone have any advice or experience as to what this could possibly be?
Thanks for taking the time to read this x
Hi,
Sorry to butt in but I had silver nitrate after my biopsy. I would use shower and hairdryer to dry the area. I’d wear no knickers and skirt when I was indoors. Try to keep it airy! I did get a mild yellowish discharge from it but it didn’t smell. Personally I think it was just the dead skin coming away but my gp did prescribe me antibiotics. Your right about the things to look for regarding infection.

CatLady 91. Hi I recovered very well from the hysterectomy . It's been 15 months .Can now lift and carry again. No scars as such as had keyhole . Good idea with the camera . Thanks for that .I'll give it a whirl. Maybe they got it on the last biopsy although I have read that it's something that does not go away but will recur. . It doesn't cause me any problems up to now but using the Epaderm cream for the post RT probably prevents any soreness.
Thanks I’ve been doing the shower and hairdryer trick which works well and thanks to return of nice weather can wear skirts / dresses and no knickers! Have a small amount of what seems to be quite bright yellow discharge when I have a peak but no other signs. It’s still early days as only had it Thursday so will keep a check and see GP if any concerns. Back to work tomorrow though which means long hours and uniform
Hi
I’m sorry you’re stressing, you should try some relaxing, maybe mindfulness or something to take your mind off? Stress and worry can only make these things worse. I’ve just learned as I’ve got older that it doesn’t help, doesn’t change any outcomes. Easy for me to say perhaps, sorry! If you’re concerned still about your red area can you call consultant perhaps. Not sure about steroid cream to be honest, but definitely Vaseline is a barrier and should protect the area. Don’t use anything perfumed. My last biopsies were closer to perineum and it’s difficult to keep clean. I’ve been using a squeezy bottle with luke warm water. Surely you have a follow up booked with consultant? For peace of mind I’d ask about the red area, the steroid cream and also the tightness. Good luck xx
Just as an update, in case anyone stumbles across this thread like I did for other threads looking for answers...
I am currently 5 days post biopsy and feeling so much better. Don’t get me wrong, I won’t be racing to go horse riding anytime soon but overall much, much better. Which on just 2 days ago did not think would be possible. We had the hot weather and I returned to work and was so conscious about the area getting infected. I also had an odd looking area of what I presume was dead skin around the area, almost protruding (sorry, TMI). Anyway said piece of skin was catching when I walked or went to the toilet causing pain as it was still attached. This has now come away (with a little help) and the wound looks much cleaner than just a couple days ago.
Fingers crossed this progress continues and I get results soon.
Thanks again for everyone’s advice and support x
Hi Bunnybear,
I’ve taken your advice I will be seeing the consultant tomorrow. I can’t keep worrying about it. The steroid cream doesn’t seem to be working and my partner thinks it’s getting worse. I just hope and pray it’s not another area of VIN. I’m trying all the breathing exercises. There was one on the This Morning yesterday With Phil and Holly his name is Wim Hof. That helped me relax or should I say forget for 5 mins. I recorded it on my phone and did it again just before I went to sleep. I used to being strong and not use to the way I am at the moment it’s getting me down and I’m getting on my own nerves!!xx
Jane45.. good luck with your aap tomorrow. Fingers crossed all goes well ..xx
Hi Jane 45
Glad you’re going to see consultant today, please let me know what he says. Keeping fingers crossed for you. I missed the guy on This Morning but i heard them reading some viewers comments on how great he was. I’ll check on the app have you got it? Try to keep it up, I’m sure it will help you. You are strong, you’re just having a blip. Corona, lockdown, everything else that is going in the world is getting to all of us. I’m having to shield, so haven’t been out in weeks other than hospital! The idea of shopping is terrifying! I think with all this going on, the things that may not normally get to us so much just seem bigger. You need to occupy your mind, reading, a project at home, whatever works.
take care xx
Hi BB,
The consultant said the area is not VIN 3 or cancer but not sure if it could be VIN 1 or it could be irritation from the imiquimod cream I’m using. He said I’ll need to wait for the other specialist as they will do the vinegar test! In the meantime he has given me some epderm cream to put on it. Interestingly he said I should not be using steroid cream as it works against the imiquimod cream. I think I need to get back to work that keeps my mind ticking. I’ve exhausted the garden not much left to do! I will definitely keep doing the breathing exercises. My goal is to get the specialist out of the way hopefully she will say it’s fine and I can get back to some normality. Yes I agree about this awful virus normally I’d see friends but that’s not happening at present. The shopping is definitely not an enjoyable experience. Xx
Interesting I have started my latest imiquimoid round tonight have the fear as previously used this twice and made me ill, did it make you feel ill ?
