Advice please. My Mum was diagnosed with Vulvar cancer stage 3 at the end of April. The plan is she will have 3 rounds of Chemotherapy, the radiation afterwards. However, she has an ulcer that she has been hospitalised for 3 times so far as it has become infected and it has bled out 2 times which has pushed back her first lot of treatment. She was well enough to receive her first lot of Chemo 2 Tuesdays ago but was back in hospital again with a major bleed to the ulcer 5 days later.

I live about 3 hours away so I don't get up to see her as often as I like and although I talk to her most days, I feel like I'm a bit out of the loophole as she doesn't like asking questions and would rather bury her head in the sand.

However, today I went up to visit her, I found out the tumor is attached to a vein which is causing the ulcer and bleed outs and she was offered a DNR at hospital last week in case of another one. Her husband very bluntly told me today, the cancer won't kill her, it will be the ulcer and another bleed that will end her life and she is now in end of life care according to him.

My question is has anybody else suffered similar and came out the other end or should I be preparing myself for the worse?

I can't answer it myself as I have a different cancer, however by me replying your post will be "bumped up" to the top of the page and I hope seen and answered by others from the group.

I can understand your worry here, it's not having all the information to ensure you know just where your mum is with her treatment. I can only suggest you ask "her husband" (do I assume this is not your dad?) for and up to date prognosis.
