I was up and fasting ,drinking water until 10.30am got ready to go for my operation scheduled for today 12th May.

My friend was picking me up, to take myself and my hubby to the hospital.

Ready to get into car - BAM! Phone call, cancelled I'm so devastated, been waiting weeks.

I know I've to wait until 3rd June .

Yet another hurdle to jump over, as well as coping with the itching, burning, feeling and stopped taking my HRT 4 weeks ago to be ready.

Know I'm a emotional mess, worried sick, what if they change into actual cancer cells.

Omg this is so horrible and stressful.Sob

  • Hi

How stressful for you-I’m sorry you’ve had this extra delay when you were all set to get this done. Precancerous cells are typically slow to change, so although I know you are very anxious the delay in getting surgery is unlikely to affect your outcome.

You’ll naturally be worried of course, but try to keep yourself occupied as you wait for the rescheduled date. It seems like an eternity of waiting, but in the grand scheme of things it’s honestly not. I hope everything will go ahead smoothly next time, and that you’re getting help with your pain meantime.

  • Thank you Sarah . I'm going back to work , as I need to keep active ,  i have.also  contacted my doctor about the  pain & itching - waiting for call back . Thanks again for your positive reply. X

  • If you can get help with your pain and itching for now to get some relief that could make you feel better in general. If your gp can’t help, contact the consultant via their secretary to get advice. It makes things so much worse if you’re constantly uncomfortable.

I’ve had to wait ages for everything to happen-all targets were missed on every occasion, and  I didn’t get appropriate pain relief, but ultimately I was ok. I would do things differently if I had my time again and speak up to advocate for myself.

  • I was mis diagnosed as well, the doctor thought is was vigina dryness, at 1st , prescribed pessary , to increase my estrogen.

Had to argue to get to see a doctor to get a swab , as I kept saying it's a infection.

Finally got swab done , while waiting for results, I was told to just wash my vulva in water , which I did , it's then I found the lump

I was diagnosed with two infections - streptococcus C/G

Two lesions on vulva - biopsy was taken - NIV 3 pre-cancer . At the hospital

To say I was in shock! Not the word .

I was plodding through the week's aming for the 12th may .

World crashed ,when it was cancelled.

I've now picked myself - ready to start again until 3rd June.

My doctor prescribed - replens - none hormones - naproxen pain killers .

    Hopefully they will help.

Take care Sarah , thanks for your help and advice xx

  • I hope the meds help while you wait. I’ve used naproxen and found it pretty good for my pain in the past.

Sometimes you need to push for things with gps. They don’t always have more specialist knowledge about particular conditions, so things can get missed. The main thing now is that you’ll get this done shortly and hopefully you can recover and get beyond it. I hope you’ll keep us posted with how you get on. Look after yourself.
