I have received my results from the biopsies I had taken a couple of weeks ago, been informed its V.I.N 3. My Gynaecologists secretary has been in touch today to tell me about the treatment options. I'm being seen in Clinic next week to discuss treatment further. I have been told that my options are cream or laser surgery, I have had a read up on both and can't make my mind up what to do! Has anyone on here got any advice? I'm so scared/worried I may choose the wrong option.
Hi Emma08,
What a difficult decision. I wasn’t given an option, I was given one recommendation and that was to have a wide local excision. Hopefully when you have your appointment next week they can go through the options in further detail and help you to decide which to go for.
Always here if you want to chat.
I've been reading up about each option I've been given, the cream has so many side effects!! Thank you for taking the time to reply to me xxx
Hi Emma08,
I don’t have any experience with the cream, but like you I’ve read about it. I guess some people may be able to tolerate it better than others, but yes I’ve read about some of the side effects.
No worries at all. I’m always here if you want to chat.
I wish you the best of luck with whichever route you choose.
I really don't know without asking the million and one questions on Tuesday that I have. Thank you for your support, I will let you know Tuesday how things go xx
Hi Emma08,
Definitely ask all the questions you can think of. I tend to write them all down so I don’t forget any.
Yes, please do. Good luck.
I've been, I have agreed to try the cream, he said he would like me to give it a try and will see me again in 6-10 weeks time, he said if no improvement with the cream i would need surgery WLE, im so scared now that if the cream doesn't work. I have a real big fear of being put to sleep !!! Laser surgery wouldn't be the best way forward if the cream doesn't work. Did you have surgery? Xx
Sorry to keep asking questions, but did you have general anaesthetic, this is my worst fear should it come to surgery xx
Hi
I’ve had VIN3. I tried the cream but it didn’t work so have had WLE which got rid of it. I was given the option of general or local anaesthetic so don’t worry, you don’t need to go under!
I would definitely recommend WLE as it’s known as the gold standard treatment and means you are getting rid of it rather than treating it.
its a worrying time I know but trust your doctors, look after yourself too. Sending love and best wishes xx
Hi Emma08,
I hope having a plan is in some way helpful. I have commented on a different post, but I would have a chat with your team if you reach the point of needing surgery. They were really helpful for me. I do appreciate that for some that won’t offer total peace of mine, but hopefully it will offer some reassurance at least.
