Hi everyone, I'm not good at this but I'm going out of my mind. To cut a long story short I saw my GP last week, Ive itching on my vulvar for a good while now, seen doctor a couple times, nothing to worry about, hormones, thrush etc all the usual reasons, it got worse and worse more and more intense so I thought I'd better actually have a look down there myself so took some photos with mobile phone. OMG it's lumpy bumpy, it's white, it's got like little open slits in it, it's sore, it hurts, my GP looked at me for less than 5 seconds, honestly less than 5 seconds and said he would refer me to a gynaecologist, I could get h o w quickly he looked at me out of my mind so I rang and spoke to him a couple of days later and asked him to be honest with me, I said why did you look at me for less than 5 seconds, I said its because you knew you were looking a vulvar cancer didn't you (I had been researching myself on the Internet for a couple of days) and he said YES!! although he said there is still a chance he could be wrong. I now have appointment with gynaecologist this Thursday 1st, my GP says gynaecologist will take biopsies, is this normal at first appointment, my mind is spinning, my heart is pounding. My partner is calm, I don't think he accepts it is likely to be cancer. I am 55 years old and already have primary progressive multiple sclerosis and walk with a frame, I don't know how I'm going to cope with everything if it's cancer, how long do biopsy results take, I'm sorry about all this everyone. Elaine x
Hello Elaine. Don't ever apologise for feeling how you do, it is only natural and I understand exactly how you are feeling as I went through almost thesame thing. It is quite usual to take a biopsy at the first appointment so that the gynaecologist can rule out certain things and get you the treatment needed as soon as possible. In my case the biopsy results took about a week to come back.and within 6 weeks or so I had my surgery, which was successful and I am now living a normal life again. Take care and keep us all undated.
