Hi I’m new here, I was first diagnosed with carcinoma in situ of the vulva when I was 23, had surgery to remove it with a gynecologist oncologist, that was 8 years ago. After that surgery he told me I also had mild vin 1 on the other side of my vulva, but that it should clear up on its own, now 8 years later and after showing this small spot to doctors for years they finally biopsies it, and it also came back as carcinoma in situ, looks like they should have removed it 8 years ago when it was mild, I am gonna have to go through referrals and surgery again now, the hardest part is, that doctors don’t seem to know enough about this condition, every time I had a problem It took years to finally get the biopsy, even after my history.
Hi and welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read that 8 years later you're having to go through the whole experience of biopsies and tests again.
My cancer was a different type to yours but I do understand how frustrating all this can be.
When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Are you seeing a gynecological oncologist should know about VIN and Cancer, is that who you've been seeing and showing the spot too. If so I'm sorry. Perhaps you may have to travel to find a doctor that will listen or one that has more experience in V-cancer and VIN.
Good luck,
Lisa
Hi, elmslav, I am scheduled to see the gynecologic oncologist next month, he is the same doctor that treated me 8 years ago, but after my surgery 8 years ago he released me to be followed up by a regular gynecologist, I wish he would have been the one doing my follow up appointments instead, then maybe this new spot would have been treated sooner, my most recent biopsy says pigmented squamous cell carcinoma in-situ or bowenoid papulosis, my first biopsy 8 years ago also said squamous cell in-situ, hpv negative, that was when I was 23, everything I look up on the internet says it’s very rare especially at such a young age, I had a wide local excision for the first lesion, hoping that is all I will need this time also.
