Hi there ladies, any advice would be greatfully appreciated.
I had vulva laser surgery 4 months ago, the surgeon also did some in the opening of my vagina on the edge closer to the anus. All healed well and only a little tender the last month. I'm in a 5 year relationship and so obviously have tried to remain sexually active throughout. We put off any intercourse until after 6 weeks as I was told. Its been awful! We've tried 4 times and every time I've had to stop because it's so painful, I tear slightly each time also which I did previously due to another surgery years ago but the pain is unbearable.
He's been so great about it but I'm terrified that it's not going to get any better.
We've used multiple lubes, lots of foreplay, different positions, nothing is comfortable and I end up in tears. I'm supposed to have an appointment with my obgyn on Monday as a check up but they've cancelled it twice already so really hoping they keep this one.
Thanks xxx
Hi Spudserella, I had a partial vulvectomy/vaginectomy with plastic reconstructive surgery in July of this year. I'm married 30 years so my situation is a bit different than yours however - and because I also had radiation treatments - I am aware that many women use vaginal dilators, of sorts, to stretch the vaginal opening and canal. Perhaps you might ask your ob/gyn about this as it seems to be rather common for all women who undergo pelvic radiation although I would think it would be applicable to anyone having any procedure that alters the size vagina. From what I've read, using the dilators must be done daily and regularly to achieve success.
Hope that helps.

Hi spudserella,
From my first day of chemo/radiation I was given vaginal dialator with different size attachments and cream and told to use it daily to help with vagina tightening. Not only because of intercourse, but also as it would be easier for my consultant to examine me. I found it difficult due to the ops, but did it faithfully for three months.
I have been married thirty odd years so different for me, but maybe when you see the Doctor he may suggest this.
Good luck,
Sandy x
