UPDATE: heard from consultants secretary today and I have a follow up appointment on 14 May to discuss surgery. Can't believe it's still such a long wait. I've asked for a sooner appointment if there are any cancellations. My initial appointment with GP when I was referred on 2WW was 18 Feb (my symptoms have worsened since and area of concern has doubled in size from September last year when it all started) - been a long road already of anxiously waiting and I'm already exhausted and ready to throw in the towel!
Received my biopsy report which indicated presence of VIN 2 and VIN 3. It indicated that it's an early change and being taken to MDT. I understand what an MDT is, but anyone know what is the early change bit is all about?
Thank you in advance.
Hi OwieBowie I am sorry to hear about your recent diagnoses. I have been pondering over the “early change” wording, and I am wondering if this is something that has happened quickly? Have they used the term early in regards to a sudden change? Have you been assigned a Macmillan nurse that you can call to clarify this wording for you ?
Thank you for replying chellesimo ️
The wording on the letter said "this is a very early change and I am referring the report to our gynaecological MDT for a review". I was assuming the cells are changing quite quickly to VIN 3, based on how quickly the area of concern has grown and changed over the last few months, but wasn't sure if my assumption was correct.
No Macmillan nurse, just waiting for the consultant or someone from Gynae to get back to me with an appointment and/or treatment plan.
I think I would read that the same way. I wonder if you could give your GP a call and ask if he can discuss this with you. Or can I suggest you call the Macmillan support line on 0808 808 00 00 who are available 7 days a week from 8am until 8pm.
I know you mentioned you were aware of MDT meaning. MDT meetings are usually held once a week on the same day of the week, and then you are usually contacted on the very same day to discuss treatment or be given an appointment. So hopefully you won’t have too long to wait.
Hi OwieBowie
I think I would have assumed the same as you have done, but to be honest it’s not explicitly clear from the wording. I wasn’t allocated a nurse until I had an actual cancer diagnosis but as yours is VIN 2 and 3, these are pre cancerous changes.
I haven’t found gps helpful personally, and I’m not sure they would know more, so it’s best to speak with the consultant or gynae team as they are the experts. I hope you don’t have long to wait for the decision of the mdt and a plan going forward.

I don't have a macmillan nurse, but you can always phone them for a chat. I do however now have a macmillan buddy, our cases are treated differently and assessed. The macmillan line helped me initially with financial advice, and a few calls for emotional support as I didn't take all this very well at all. So don't forget they are there for you x
