Worried about Lump!

Hey guys,

I have a big lump inside my vagina, I'm having a lot of back and womb pain. My left leg is also swollen. The lump itself is rock hard at the bottom and covered by what feels like a water balloon. I've had a Bartolin's cyst before but this feels nothing like it! I've just gone through the menopause and I haven't had any bleeding, just awful bloating, running to the loo and th awful pain! I've  realised I've had this lump for years, I never paid it much notice as I thought it was part off my anatomy it was so hard! I had been having pain after sex and feeling sick but I ve so many other ailments it didn't register (I had a 3cm benign lump removed from my thyroid in Nov). I've booked with my gp for next week but I'm really worried...hoping it will be a cyst or maybe prolapse. Apologies for asking but what did everyone's lump feel like? This feels weird, there's at least 2cm thickness of rock hardness running the whole length of my vaginal wall, then the whole thing is enclosed in a massive watery balloon.

  • Appointment next Fri, really not feeling great. Bleeding is starting to die down, thank god. They are going to have to do something!

  • Glad you at least have an appointment, so I hope that can move things forward for you.

  • Dreading the appointment on Fri, this is just going on too long and my mental health is screwed! I've been so depressed with worry and feeling so ill. But I'm picking myself up again. Can't rem if I said but my daughter has been red flagged for bowel surgery so hoping she'll get that soon and have some relief! Hope all is well with you! xx

  • I’m not surprised your mental health has taken a battering after all this time of being in pain and not knowing why-it just wears you down. I really hope you are listened to on Friday.

I hope your daughter gets whatever she needs done soon too. That’s an extra worry for you. I’m doing ok thanks-just feeling 5he cold!

  • Awww thanks! It went well got a referral for the Gynae clinic and she said I should been seen quickly! I also got another appointment for Tues to look at other things my tonsil and foot, this was because she had students in!!!!  You won't believe what's been happening with my daughter this is how bad the health service is atm A bit off background, she's only 20 and has been having bowel problems since she was young (a few family members have stomas) she is now having gynae problems as well. She has been very ill back and forth between gp and a+e. Last week a piece off her bowel protuded and she literally had to push it back inside her body, last night she had a severe vaginal bleed, followed by a gush off pink fluid, finger sized clots and still leaking. A+E said she has an inflammed, cervix with pus and that she would have to see her own Gp, they would not do a Gynae referral and they could do a smear but they could only hope it would land on the right person's desk. She is still leaking fluid and again her bowel has protruded. She can only get a Dr appointment for Tues. So my worry is Sepsis and could this have been the loss off a pregnancy? A+E will do nothing for her unless she gets sicker and she can't see a Gp sooner! It is unbelievable....

  • Morning

I’m pleased to read that you’ll get your gynae referral and hopefully be seen quickly-at last!

Your poor daughter…it does sound like she’s having an awful time of it. I’m not sure what they mean about hoping a smear would land on the right person’s desk-how bizarre! But having symptoms like she’s having needs investigation, not a smear test which is basically a check for the hpv virus, followed by checking for abnormal cells if it is found.

Hopefully when she goes to the gp she can be referred to relevant specialists. I think A&E are limited in what they can do in my own experience and referrals need to come from a gp. Doesn’t help your daughter though and I hope she’ll be ok. I got bawled out by a very angry consultant after being sent to A&E by my gp and waiting for 5 hours to be seen, so they do seem overwhelmed. I was sent home without being seen at all!

At least the ball is rolling now for you, so keep me posted on how you get on.

  • Yes she explained more about why she thought it was a Diverticulum but one key bit for me was she thought the urethra felt swollen, it's not swollen there's an actual growth along it! But anyhow it's moving in the right direction! Feeling very alone in all this today...family, friends etc they just don't get it and I no longer feel able to ask for help and support. Anyhow trying not to dwell!! Are you doing ok? Still healing?! x

  • It really must be so difficult for you dealing with all of this, and it’s hard to feel you are burdening others by asking for support and help, when it might be difficult for them to understand.

Oh my…a growth? Thank goodness you’re not going to have to wait months to be seen now and get things properly checked out.

I’m fine thanks-all healed from everything from the past few months and feeling good!

  • Hey just back from another doc appointment.....really don't think I can take much more, referral for ENT she's worried about my throat and another appointment on Fri with a different doc, she's concerned about the lump on my left foot. She mentioned BCC Basal Cell Carcinoma? I didn't even remind her of the neuroma in my right foot! I'm really going to have to try and not worry until things are confirmed! This is the lump I've been trying to show her for months! x
