Tripple negative breast cancer diagnosis, surgery done, chemo starting in approx 2 weeks — anyone else at the same stage? Looking for people in the same boat!

  • Hi, me!! Had my follow up after the surgery on Monday. Now just waiting. Just feel like I am in limbo!

  • Same. I find the constant waiting the most stressful!

  • Hi   I started chemo on Wednesday   nurses where lovely but me a ease  .. still feeling ok no sickness  just very. Tired   hopefully  won't be bad. So I hope this help you a lilt bit.  Its a complete roller coaster  but all .to get back to life   kick cancer up the arse..

  • Glad to hear you are ok! I am leaping every time I hear my phone ring! Waiting for it all to kick off!!

  • I start next Friday I have the port and the 1st chemo the same day. Well done on having the first one indeed kick it's ass!!

  • Sort of. Stage 1, grade 3 TNBC diagnosed in November, lumpectomy and lymph node biopsy done in December, clear results received on margins and nodes in January. And now I'm waiting for an oncology appointment to start the adjuvant chemo.

The wait time of up to 12 weeks was made very clear by my team at my results appointment and I'll be honest, I was quite happy to take a little break from the cancer stuff before the next challenge.

Now I kind of just want to crack on. I'm looking to change my life in quite a lot ways and as some of those changes are quite major, I'm unable to make them at the moment due to the upcoming treatment.

At the same time, I have so much to be grateful for!

Best of luck to you and it hope all goes well x

  • 12 weeks does seem long? Is that because the margins and lymph nodes all clear? But at least they’ve told you to expect that. I’ve been on a bender all weekend, even smoked fags and I haven’t smoked for years. Might as well now since I’ve got cancer

  • Hey yes, my wait will have been 12 weeks as well from the operation. It seems like a long time between. I guess that’s just nhs waiting times…

  • They didn't give a reason but that could be why, yes. That's an understandable response to having cancer. I've definitely been known to cope with wine, but unfortunately I found that when it inevitably wore off, not only was I still a cancer patient, I also now had a raging hangover, including feeling even more anxious, stressed and depressed than I was! How are you feeling today?

  • Amazingly I am clear headed today. Had a call from oncology whilst I was walking along the sea front and they gave me an appointment to meet the dr on 01 April. Now I feel a bit like a fraud as I could probably be at work. Since my cancer is in the lymph nodes surely the chemo will start sooner?? I think that’s what I want know x
