Hi everyone, I have TNBC and have finished 8 cycles of Chemotherapy. I am having a wide excision and sentinel node biopsy next Thursday. I am shocked and obviously nieve as I was told my lymph nodes were clear.....so when the surgeon mentioned lymph node biopsy and waiting for results I just felt really worried. I was also told I would need Radiotherapy but if the nodes are clear why would they say that ??? Just when I start to feel positive and like I am getting there it seems like the Dr's drip feed me a little more information to send me into a panic. If the nodes are positive, then what ?? Any replies would be much appreciated. Thank you all. X
Hi Mylesy, I had the wide excision sentinal node biopsy operation on the 11th. Was told from the scans the lymph nodes looked clear, but they said they needed to do the biopsy to make sure. Got the results on Weds and node was clear. I was told that even if clear they do the radiotherapy to make sure and help stop it coming back. Hope this helps. Waiting for the results is hard, I was so stressed but now feeling better after results.
Thinking of you xx
Hi Mylesy
Think it might be standard procedure to do SNLB so try not to worry. I was told my lymph nodes looked clear too but still had SNLB. They were clear and got clear margins too but still having chemo and afterwards radiotherapy too. I was a bit surprised but they do want to throw everything at it to reduce chance of recurrence. Hope that helps xx
