I am 68 and 3weeks ago had an op for TNBC. I’m at the stage I have to decide weather to have chemo or not. I have heart problems already, atrial fibrillation, a leaky heart valve and cardiac syndrome x. I also have diabetes and high blood pressure and take tablets for all these conditions.
Looking at the side effects of chemo, I think I may be worse off if I have chemo. Has anyone any experience of ill health and having chemo? Any advice would be welcome.
Hello Pylon,
The first thing I would advise is not to look at the internet to find answers about your chemo, you will put your head in a spin.
It is better to be guided by your chemo unit or a specialist breast nurse, they will help you on what can seem to be a very difficult
journey.
You may also have an appointment with your oncologist prior to the start of treatment, don`t be scared to ask questions they will try and
put you at ease.
Do you have a community nurse allocated?, this team also do a great job.
I hope this helps and all goes well.
John.
