Hi, I was diagnosed on 14th May and found out that I have TNBC on Monday. I see the oncologist tomorrow. It’s very overwhelming and a complete shock. It’s nice to see a support group here

  • Hi Cornwallgirls

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with TNBC. I was diagnosed with TNBC last September.

Best of luck with your meeting with your oncologist tomorrow.

    Best wishes

    Hello Cornwallgirls

How did your oncologist appointment go? I am on the same boat, diagnosed on Wednesday awaiting a scan... Then seeing oncology on 14th June to be told my plan.

I'm still in a total headspin to be honest. Big hugs. Xx

  • Hi

Seems things are moving fast for you. Daisy53 and I are in the same position of waiting. Oncology 11th June but no scan dates yet.

Thank you for your responses everyone. I’m having my blood tests on Wednesday then starting chemo on Thursday. I’m having one drug every week for 12 weeks and another every three weeks. At the end of that I’ll start another two drugs every three weeks for 12 weeks. Six months!! All very scary. It is also my daughter’s 16th birthday the day I start my chemo. It’s really rubbish for my whole family... I have an identical twin too. They’re going to do a genetic test. I’ll also have scans and a PICC line put in at some point. I have had to stop HRT and I’ll have to have my Mirena Coil taken out. It’s very overwhelming...

  • Yes there is a lot to do. But we've got this. End game.

Have either of you asked about going on holiday. ? I want to take the kids away at some point and was thinking after chemo and before surgery.

No haven't even thought about next week to be honest. But I wouldn't thought it would be a problem, if you feel well enough, ask at your nrxt appointment. X

  • It sure is but once you get started things should start to feel better. I'm sorry that you have to start your chemo on your daughter's birthday that's a bummer. While I won't say chemo is easy it is doable and the oncology nurses do everything in their power to make sure you are comfortable and that you don't have too many side effects.

I had a PICC line inserted after my first cycle of chemo as my veins are very small and hard to find and it was a blessing I can tell you.  It meant that my oncology nurse didn't have to go looking for a vein every time I had chemo or had bloods taken.  The only downside really to it is trying to keep it dry in the shower.

Just hold on to the fact that the bloods, scans and PICC line is to get you better.

Wishing you all the best with your treatments and tests.

    Best wishes

Thank you. Can you go swimming with a PICC? I live in Cornwall and we go to the beach a lot...

I don't think you can swim with a Picc in. I would confirm with your oncologist x
