Hi

I am new on the site but am so glad u have found this. People are so supportive and kind to each other.

I am feeling anxious at he moment as I had surgery for TNBC on 15th February. Stage 2 and grade 2 and needing chemo and radiotherapy. I am not however seeing the oncologist for the first time  until 1st April which is over 6 weeks post surgery. Does this seem normal? It feels like a long time to me.

Many thanks

Hi Clarendo welcome to the forum. I imagine with all the COVID at present that some things have been slightly slower than usual but as the surgery has happened then maybe 6 weeks isn't a long time and I imagine that the area taken in the surgery will have gone for testing etc so they will have all these back by the time you see the Oncologist.

    Hope that makes sense? xxx

Thank you Gail. That feels reassuring

  • Hi Clarendo.  I had surgery for my Grade 3 TNBC on 8th Jan and did not start my chemo for three weeks, partly to allow the wound to heal, but we did already now how aggressive it was and that treatment needed to be quick, from my biopsies.  It is very hard to relax and not feel concerned between appointments, whether they are two weeks or four weeks, but the service is pretty darn good.  I am full of admiration for the teams that look after us.  In a time when the NHS has been under so much pressure to still get urgent treatment has been quite extraordinary.  Try and still your overactive mind because they need all the results so that they can plan any more treatments.  Good luck on your journey.   Gwennie
