Just found out Im Triple Negative and hoping this is treatable, it doesn't look to be the best type if there is one. Im 59 and really healthy, gonna start chemo soon and have my first oncology appointment in a few hours.
Any information that you can give me would be gratefully received. Its stage two, grade three but will know more soon.
I want both breasts off asap. Can I have that if its a positive BRACA result?
Jacquie
Hello Jacquie
I can appreciate your sentiment about having both breasts off asap. I was stage two and grade three and having my chemo first before surgery. How many cycles are you having? Is it FEC - T.? I haven't had the BRACA done. Is that the gene thingy? I'm not going to say it is easy because I haven't found it so.But side effects are different for everyone so I hope and pray that you get off lightly.
My hair was a biggy for me. I thought it wouldn't matter, but when it actually did fall out I found it did. Looking in a mirror can be so hard, as finding that comfortable place to sleep in with out the constant reminder that I have tnbc.I sleep on my tummy and cant do that anymore. One day!
Ask lots of questions. Even the silly ones. Silly ones may seem silly but they are all important. I don't like and don't do surprises so I need to know exactly what I'm dealing with. So a Dr who is all up beat telling me it'll be fine and don't worry about that, leave that to me so a no no for me. You may be different.
The people on here are great. I have taken a lot from their chatter, and that has helped me a lot. I wish you well and please please come on here and have a rant and a rave. There is always someone who will answer you.
Bless you :-))
Hi Jacquie,
Welcome to the group even though nobody ever wants to be here.
I was diagnosed with TNBC in February, like you having fec-t chemotherapy before surgery. Last week I had my 5th cycle, the 2nd docetaxal(T). I also had genetic testing and luckily that came back negative.I was told my tumour was grade 3 but not given a stage so not sure why that was.
On a positive note,I had an ultrasound on Tuesday and my tumour has disappeared so surgery is scheduled for August.I know I am lucky and do not know what you were told by your consultant but talking even if it is to vent and rage is a good thing.
You are (unfortunately) not alone. Please use these sites they offer an alternative to always saying your ok to family and friends when your really not.
Sending you ,and hugs.
Take care

Hi
Please do not Google TN, it is so out of date and frightens the life out of you. TN Is an aggressive cancer but can be treated successfully with chemo, surgery and radiotherapy. There are lots of ladies that have had TN and are living long, happy lives.
I was diagnosed in April 2018. I had 8 x FEC-T chemo, lumpectomy and 15 sessions of radiotherapy. I had a complete response to chemo.
I had the genetic test as I havd 2 daughters and was fortunate that mine came back negative. If you have the test and it is positive, your team will go through a plan and options with you.
Good luck with your chemo. Take each treatment as it comes. You've got this! X
