Hi

I have had a CT scan with contrast of my torso. They said the cancer has not spread anywhere.

I have also had a breast MRI with contrast I am guessing to check the size of the lump in breast and arm pit pre chemo.

I have not to my knowledge had a bone scan. Is this normal?

Thanks.

  • I had to have a bone scan with contrast following CT & MRI also with.contrast. I asked the question and was advised it is a normal procedure and works alongside the MRI to pin point the exact spot. It is a slightly different scan as you will be facing down and you will have holes in the table to put your breasts in. Doesn’t hurt at all but it is vey loud at times and can be a little uncomfortable around the breast bone, but the lady who did the scan was really helpful and moved the cushioning around for me. My tumours are very deep rooted so needed an extra hand to find them. Yours maybe are visible with out it.

  • Hi

Thanks for the reply. The scan you describe is what I had. MRI with contrast laying on my front. I also had a tooth out that morning so I dribbled everywhere. Haha.

So that was the bone scan? I thought perhaps there was another MRI on top for bones as the one I had I was told was for staging and getting better pics.

So if I have had CT and MRI, that's it?

    Thank you

  • Sorry confused myself the bone scan is lying on the bed and it takes about 30 mins does different parts at a time starting at your head had contrast again completely painless.
