Hey all. So in November I was diagnosed with breast cancer, Triple Negative. Started Docetaxel and carboplatin. It didn't work. The cancer only grew. Surgeon decided to go ahead with surgery. Unfortunately that was cancelled as the breast tissue was so inflamed that she couldn't get good enough margins. I am now on EC chemo (epirubin and something else). They have said if it doesn't work that is it, nothing else they can do.
So my question is whether anyone else has been through this process and the second chemo worked?
Hi
So sorry to read you have been through Docetaxel and Carbo with seemingly little effect :-/
I'm having trouble getting my head around why no surgery - Were you supposed to have a lumpectomy (WLE) ? Surely if they cannot get clear margins from that then they would have opted for a mastectomy. Unless they are trying their best to save your breast.
Fingers crossed that the EC is more successful and your surgery can go ahead after you finish your sessions, by which time maybe we will back to a little more normality with hospital appointments.
You could try joining the Main Breast Group here and posting this question in that group as it is a much more active; hopefully one of the ladies there will have had similar chemo regimes.
Hope this is of some help, noticed you had no replies as yet and couldn't read and run.
Take care, G n' J
The no surgery is because the breast tissue was so inflamed. They were going to do a full mastectomy.
