I have finished all my treatment but I found the 10 mins clinic appointments a total waste of time. Yes I was weight but the doctors did not listen to me they just did what they what. I felt like I was a human guinea pig in an experiment. The doctors were totally cold and just wanted to play with stats in there computers They had the heads in the clouds and feel like they completely forgot why they became doctors in the first place. The nurses on the other hand were totally different, they were down to earth and you can talk to them. I would have to say if the cancer does come back I would probably refused any treatment as I do not trust or have any faith in the doctors at this point of time - whether this will change over a period of time I do not know. How do people think on the way they were treated and the clinic appointments.
Dear Sandra
The doctors do use FEC-T for breast cancer. What I meant my guineas pigs is that they did not listen to me at the clinics. I have an underactive thyroid which was effect by the steroid tablets and I feel that my dosages should of been reduced. Also it my opinion that the idea of the clinic was an opportunity for the patient to communicate to the doctor to say how well or not you cope with treatment, and then decided whether or not carried on and the amount of dosage for the next treatment. My doctors did not listen to me and I had a lot of problems. It is also important to get the right support for home. I live alone and could not get support from my local authority and my cousin at the end turn their back on me. If you got a partner or a very close friend then you are lucky as you will need help around the house, cooking, cleaning and shopping as well as moral support. At the clinic appointment you must be firm and polite with your doctors so they make sure they work with you and not take matters in their own hands. Yes they have the knowledge but people are people and as such the treatment can effect people in different ways like some people will have problems eating but others not. I had to stopped my treatment after cycle 4 hopefully you will be able to have the whole 6 cycles. Yes it is dawning but if you get the right support from the beginning then the journey/pathway you have to go along will be together.
Dear Funny Girl!
I understand now your thoughts, thank you for sharing your experience.
I am sorry to hear that the doctor did not listen to you. One of my friend told me something, which I will keep in mind during the whole journey : I am the boss!!!!
Being alone is not simple,I believe. Luckily this platform exists.
Take care and good luck for your following treatment.
Stay safe and keep smiling!
Xx
