I have recently finished chemo and have lost my hair, I am wearing turbans all the time and wigs if I go out, although this is not happening at the moment due to having to stay in for 12 weeks because of Covid. I don't want anyone to see me with no hair and that includes my husband, I am really struggling, more so than coping with the operations and treatment. I hate looking at myself with no hair, eyebrows and eyelashes. I know its something that I have to face and just get on with. Can anyone advise how long your hair, eyebrows and eyelashes took to grow back.... Thanks in advance x
Hi
i finished chemotherapy on feb 10th (docetaxaol/carboplatin) and lost all my hair on day 16 of the first cycle - I finished radiotherapy on Wednesday
i would say that my hair started to grow within 2 weeks -not a lot but a light fuzzy covering-I’m now 10 weeks post last chemo and have hair unevenly but all over my head-it’s very coarse and an odd colour and I seem to have a crown near my right ear but it’s definitely growing-I still wash my scalp in cetraben as I have done for8 months
eyelashes still very stubby and sparse as eyebrows
i just got satin pillowcase to try to lessen rubbing of any new hair and although I too find it difficult as hats have become a security blanket I think I try to uncover my head in the house if it’s warm as I think it was rubbing the sides
hope this helps
This is my hair one month after i finished my chemo. Excuse the photo it was more to keep a track on how my hair was growing more than anything else.
Once it started growing it grew quite quickly. I never wore anything on my head in the house, the people close to me knew what i looked like with no hair. But when i wasn't at home i lived in my pom pom hat unless i was going somewhere special then i would wear my wig.
Once i got use to having no hair i quite liked not having to mess about with it.
