I had Tnbc 2015-16 with neo adjuvant chemo and double mastectomy. No lymph involvement.

For the past 18 months I've had pains behind the implant in the affected breast. A year ago I went for it to be checked on and the registrar said it was costochondritis, nothing to worry about, offered no scans and sent me away.

The symptoms have increased and so I went to breast clinic last week. The consultant examined me and said I need an urgent bone scan. Tbey called to book it before i left the hospital. I couldn't do yesterday so it's booked for Monday.

I'm beyond terrified as I'm a single mum and have three children, the youngest is 17 months old. Friends are telling me it's a good thing the hospital are taking it seriously and it doesn't mean they think something is up.

But those of us who have been through it before see it all a little differently. I'm convinced that they think something is wrong too. And since the examination, it's hurting more.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community

It's understandable why you're feeling terrified. I haven't had the same type of cancer as you but I completely understand that feeling of panic when you think that the cancer might be back. Thankfully for me it wasn't and I'll be keeping everything crossed for you today.

When you have a minute it would be useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Do come back and let the group know how you got on.
