Hi, I'm a newbie on here, I'm 57 and found a lump in my breast the middle of December and was diagnosed with TNBC on 14th Jan. Have bronchiectasis, microvascular angina and mild to moderate sleep apnea so received a phone call on Friday identifying that a bed would be needed as a just in case for my mastectomy today.
Arrived for my surgery this morning at 7.30am, everything was all good for surgery, surgeon had explained the op he had marked my breast, was seen by anaesthetist all good. Was 2nd on the list so just waiting to be taken to theatre when they cancelled my surgery at 10 am because they had no just in case bed. Now I have to wait till 25th of Feb for surgery with no guarantee that the same thing won't happen again.
Myself and all my family are devastated by this and we're all concerned that my TNBC will have spread to my lymph nodes while I wait. Since when is cancer surgery not considered a priority by a hospital
Hi Joshsnana
Welcome to the forum, I'm Daisy53 one of then Community Champions on this forum. I sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and that your operation was cancelled at the last minute. I suggest that you ring your breast care nurse and have a chat with them about your concerns while you are waiting for the revised operation date and they should be able to reassure you.
Wishing you the best of luck with the operation and hopefully it won't be delayed again.
Best wishes
