I have tnbc grade 3 and am starting chemo (paclitaxel and carboplatin) tomorrow. Not really sure what to expect and am wondering if anyone else is currently going through treatment? Hoping for the best, but fearing the worst.
Hi Jess72
Welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with grade 3 triple negative breast cancer.
I was diagnosed with grade 3 triple negative breast cancer with lymph node involvement just over 4 years ago. I had chemo, surgery and radiotherapy and I made a full recovery. While I won't say Chemo is easy it is doable. You will be given medications to help counteract any of the possible side effects of treatment. You will also be given numbers to ring in case you aren't feeling the best in between treatments.
Wishing you the best of luck with your treatment.
Best wishes

Thanks Daisy. It’s good to hear from people who have been through it. I’m just scared of feeling really ill, but hopefully the drugs will counteract it. It’s just kind of surreal to me that today may be the last day I’m feeling well for a very long time. X
Hi Daisy,
Reading your story has really helped me to remain hopeful whilst my mum battles triple negative breast cancer which is also in her lymph. I'm not sure how this forum works and if you were comfortable messaging me privately I would really appreciate any support or advice. No pressure at all!
Best wishes.
Take each day as it comes.
It is scary but you will be okay. Everyone’s journey is different on chemo but there are medications out there to support with the side effects.
I completed my 12 weeks of Pac/Carbo at the beginning of September and I am half way through EC.
I thought it would be a long time before I felt ‘well’. It was difficult feeling well throughout the 12 weeks, however I have had periods of feeling well on EC. Currently having one of those periods now. I am due to have cycle 7 next week.
Keep drinking plenty to flush your body and eat little and often.
Good luck x
Thanks Missy. I’m just feeling very drained this morning, don’t think I slept well. So much to take in. You are almost at the end of your treatment, so best of luck to you! I just have to be strong and push trough now. No other option. Thanks for all your support. Xx
Did you have your first infusion yesterday?
Yes chemo is draining and makes you fatigued. Sleep when you can.
Do you have steroids to take?
Just a little note though - you’ve done well to have your first infusion I was told, some people don’t make it through the door! Be proud of yourself and it’s okay if you’re not strong - just take it one day at a time!
Yes I am nearly at the end - but so will you be before long xx
Oh yes I’ve got a PICC. They’re good - just got to look after it.
Sending virtual hugs.
I got steroids - I don’t know what they’re for I just took what I was told to take
They will talk you through it all and give you any medications needed when you’re having treatment xx
