I have just been informed by my Oncologist .. because I had a bad reaction to the Paclitaxel last week, they are changing it to Abraxane....

This will be 3 weekly, and not every week as before.

Has everyone else had this change due to a reaction to Paclitaxel?

Xx

  • Hi

I don't have the experience you're looking for but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

    Best with the new chemo.

  • I have had both formulations, the only difference is what the active ingredients are suspended in. Abraxane (also called NAB-Paclitaxel) is non albumin bound and as such is less likely to cause issues at infusion time. The reason I have had both was because I have been treated twice, not because I had a reaction. I did find NAB-Paclitaxel easier, however I had it weekly, not 3-weekly.
