Hi all,
Do any of you know if it's okay for me to go 2atch my children swimming? I know they say to avoid pools etc. during treatment but I would be watching from behind a perspex window and would stay away from the changing rooms. My in-laws have taken my children for the past few weeks but they have been asking if I could watch.
I am a regular swimmer and have been actively encouraged to keep swimming during treatment, admittedly I use a small private pool. The risk is more from people, not the water, so I go in and out in a dry robe and don’t use the changing rooms. In viewing areas, it’s the same as any indoor space, so it’s a question of how busy, how well ventilated. If you are on a 2-weekly or 3-weekly chemo cycle, they will be able to advise you when your white blood cells are at their lowest (on my 3 weekly EC it’s days 10-14) and you could particularly avoid that time. You could also consider wearing an FFP2 or FFP3 mask to protect yourself.
