I had my CT scan results and no sign of anything else anywhere other than breast and lymph nodes. I also had a titanium coil fitted.
Treatment plan was once every 21 days Carboplatin and Docetaxel. Followed by surgery and then more chemo. I will also be receiving Zoledronic acid throughout and for 3 to 5 years .
However Oncology want to see me tomorrow as the MRI results are in and the lump is much larger than they thought. Plus they found a lesion in my other breast. They want to talk to me face to face to discuss the implications regarding surgery.
My guess is that they may now suggest a mastectomy and in which case why bother with the first rounds of chemo.
Any clues? Has this happened to anyone else?
Update
Tripip to oncology today. Barry is in operable due to the spread and his whopping 6cm girth. MRI found that Barry may have a girlfriend in the opposite boob. More biopsy Monday to see if it is cancerous. Either way chemotherapy begins next week followed by at least one Mastectomy. Personally I just think the multi disciplinary team like my boobs and want more pics to put in the staffroom. All could be worse so hey.
Hi cheesewell. I had my chemo before surgery and similar plan to you. Tnbc in both breasts and nodes i guess they wanted to reduce the chance of spread . I think uts quite common now to have the chemo first. Good luck with mondays biopsy and lets hope for good news.if they go for lumpectomy, the chemo will shrink it.
Good luck, hope you and Barry have a positive outcome
