Hi everyone,
I'm a final-year Economics student juggling textbooks and thyroid cancer. My biopsy in late January pinned me at Thy4, leading to a hemithyroidectomy in mid-February. It’s been quite the semester!
Outside of navigating my health and hitting the books, I whip up the best tiramisu and binge-watch Netflix (open to recommendations!). TikTok is my not-so-guilty pleasure during study breaks.
I’m eager to share stories and tips. To kick things off, what’s one unexpected lesson you’ve learned from your health journey?
Cheers to learning from each other!
Hi Butterfly Resilience
Welcome to the Online Community.
I am sorry to hear of your Thyroid cancer- it sounds like you have had a busy time.
So one unexpected lesson I have learnt from my own cancer.............
That sometimes you can manage to face your fears and come out the other side. I was really scared about chemotherapy before I had the treatment.
Another one is that sometimes you have to feel worse before you feel better. My own cancer did not make me feel unwell. But the treatments did.
Last one.... that once treatment is over you do not necessarily just bounce back and things do not necessarily return to normal. Its more working out what your new normal is.
I wish you well with your continued recovery and also your studies.
Jane
