I’m on treatment 18 of 30 and so far the side effects have been manageable, I’m starting to struggle with eating, specifically reflux. I can’t lie down after eating or I bring the food back up. This morning I managed less than half a hot cross bun but did drink my coffee (slowly). I was upright but it still made me sick?? Has anyone else experienced this?
Thank you
Hi ElleB
I'm sorry to read that you're starting to struggle with eating. I don't have any experiences with this to share with you but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hi ElleB
you have my sympathy- this is not easy stuff!
i wasn’t sure if my nausea was ongoing from the chemo I had or a new bout of it from the radiation treatment!
Yes I had awful nausea and had to sleep/ rest in a propped up position or i would feel sick or get that repeating feeling . I saw my oncologist and got some anti sickness meds and tried to avoid acidic foods and anything too spicy . I had issues with greens tasting metallic , meat tasting tough and fibrous & various foods either tasing like wet cardboard or disgusting gelatinous gloop ! There was no rhyme or reason to what could taste ok or not - food in general lost it’s appeal and I ended up eating my last / main meal of the day about 2/3pm so I’d have most of the evening before bed to try and digest it all and not feel sick or get reflux or heartburn , so it would settle and I might be able to rest without throwing up or feeling sick all through the night.
mine subsided with the anti nausea meds but not entirely, and mostly went after about 18months .. it’s still not gone completely, but I don’t know what else to suggest other than avoid the things I’ve mentioned and not eating too late so you have time to digest it more.
I hope that’s of some benefit to you
good luck x
