Hi there, is there anyone with annaplastic thyroid cancer ? I am apparently 1 of 5% to have 2 different types of thyroid cancer and I feel so alone as can’t find anyone with it, I do have loads of family and friends support, I have had 6 cycles of chemo and am having another 6 cycles of chemo
Hi Storkie and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm not a member of this group but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be easier for the other group members to see.
I've done a search in the group to see if anyone else has anaplastic thyroid cancer but drew a blank I'm afraid. Of course that doesn't necessarily mean that no one else has it, they may just not have posted about it yet.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi storkie,
how are you doing?
my mum and I was told yesterday that she has aggressive thyroid cancer, the biopsy isn’t clear so doing more, they kept mum in hospital yesterday, I’m scared, until they have clear results they don’t know how to treat.
mum was told last night 20-7-23 Anaplastic thyroid cancer, can’t remove it, can’t do chemotherapy, might be able to do some radiotherapy, it’s not looking good xx
Hello
I've been here for nearly 13 years now, and I can count the number of cases of anaplastic I've seen during that time without needing to take my shoes and socks off. Mostly, we see the families of people with anaplastic rather than the patients themselves. I would say if you've done 6 cycles of chemo already, you've done much better than most people with this really tough diagnosis.
As this isn't an area where most of us have any experience or advice, my recommendation - if you haven't already - is to contact Butterfly Thyroid Cancer Trust https://www.butterfly.org.uk/
The lady who runs BTCT is very knowledgeable about the more complicated thyroid cancers and very well connected. Give her a call and see if she can help.
Best wishes
Barbara

Hi storkie
they have come back to my mum and told us it’s Anaplastic thyroid cancer, unfortunately it can’t be removed and she can’t have chemo, we have an appointment with the oncologist on Monday but it’s not looking good, palliative nurse has been and is getting them in place for when she goes home Monday, I will care for my mum.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
