I’ve just got home from the hospital where I was told I had papillary thyroid cancer, I’m told I was lucky that they actually removed the whole of the thyroid on the 21/1/22. I was so shocked even though I thought I was prepared for the worst news. I was told don’t panic and I am being referred to the MDT and to await radioactive iodine treatment. Cannot get all the questions of my head. I’m 66 and consider myself to be sensible and logical however I’m all of a dither.
Even when you hear something your were half-expecting, it can still be a shock.
Even if I tell you that the prognosis is fantastic for you to make a full recovery, it probably won't really sink in.
But you're in the right place now. Whatever you want to know, whatever doubts you have or concerns, people here will know how it feels and will do their best to support you.
Best wishes
Barbara
