Hi

I had a biopsy a few weeks back, the person doing the ultrasound said everything looked normal although there were some nodules that was completely normal and very common. She only did the FNA because I was there but said it didn’t really meet criteria.
results came back  as Thy 4 suspicious 85% chance it’s cancer. Now I’m scared. They want to remove half my thyroid but I know I have large nodules the other side so I want it all gone I think. I don’t know.

got to have more biopsies on the other side on Monday and I’m so scared.

has anyone had a FNA result of Thy 4 and it turned out not to be cancer?

  • Hi. Sorry I don't have any answers for you. Just wanted to show you my support. I have 6 thyroid nodules and I had biopsies on 3 of them 11 days ago. I'm still waiting for the results so I know how scary this is. Lots of love to you xx

    • The waiting is so hard and going for the results completely on my own was hard cos of Covid. Originally they said they would operate within 4 weeks but now because they want to biopsy the other side it’s delayed. I know they said it is a slow growing cancer but that doesn’t help my anxiety. I keep imagining the worse
  • I fully understand the anxiety. I have no idea when and how I will get my results. They only biopsied 3 on my left side as well, so may well go through the same as you depending on the results. I'm thinking of you. X

  • Thank you it’s nice to know someone understands

  • If you need to chat, I'm here. X

  • Thank you, you too

  • Hi

Mine was Thy 4 and did turn out to be cancer (Sorry I know that's not want you want to hear).

When I went to see the surgeon he gave me the option of having a hemi or the whole thing out in one go.

I wasn't sure what to do so he said that as I was "young" (30's) he would only take half in case it wasn't cancer. This was in 2019 so not sure if things have changed since then...Hopefully everything will be clearer for you after the further biopsies.

In my case it took 5 months from the lump appearing to my operation. By that time the nodule had grown to 2.4 cm but it hadn't spread outside the thyroid.

It sounds like they are being very thorough and you'll probably find that once this bit is sorted everything to do with the operation will start to happen really quickly.

I remember finding the whole thing so surreal but you will get through it x

  • Hi
